About me

I am an interpreter and translator, but mainly work as a freelance interpreter. I love learning new languages, getting to know different cultures, contributing to the communication process. My job gives me a sense of achievement and I always try to do it the best I can (constantly updating my resources, taking language classes - in the respective countries, if at all possible - consulting specialists while preparing for my assignments).

Qualifications

MA in conference interpreting (2001) and MA in translation (2004).

Education

BA in English language and literature, trained as an interpreter and translator, qualified as a freelance EU interpreter (AIC).

Experience

I presently work as a freelance interpreter and translator both for EU institutions and on the Estonian market. Additionally, I teach conference interpreting to the MA students at Tallinn University.

5 years of experience in interpreting, 6 years in translation.

My professional experience includes translating approximately 10 books (fiction and popular science).

For 7 years, I worked as a teacher of special English at a vocational school, covering a wide variety of specialties and thus learning a lot myself. I also learned a lot at the Estonian National Defence Academy, where I worked for 18 months (leaving the post to work at Tallinn University).

In 2006, together with two colleagues I founded the Estonian Association of Masters in Conference Interpreting and Translation and am currently the chair of this association.
